Thyroid may be a small butterfly-shaped gland found at the bottom of your neck, slightly below your Adam’s apple. This gland makes hormones that travel in your blood to all or any parts of your body. The hormone controls your body’s metabolism in some ways, including how briskly you burn calories and the way fast your heart beats

The thyroid is found below the Adam’s apple wrapped round the trachea (windpipe). A thin area of tissue within the gland’s middle, referred to as the isthmus, joins the 2 thyroid lobes on all sides.
